For a county-wide system that number starts at $200,000 and climbs quickly for multi-county or multi-state coverage. Most commercial operations cannot justify that capital outlay for communication alone.

VEI owns and operates two regional push-to-talk networks built on digital radio infrastructure. In Indiana and Kentucky, our Kenwood NEXEDGE digital network covers major metros and the travel corridors between them. In South Carolina, our DMR digital network covers the coastal and midlands regions. Subscribers pay a monthly fee and get instant push-to-talk coverage across hundreds of miles without owning a single tower.

For operations that extend beyond our regional footprint, Hytera HALO provides nationwide push-to-talk over 4G and LTE cellular. HALO includes web-based dispatch, GPS tracking, and works anywhere there is cellular coverage, including rural areas where traditional radio towers do not reach. Our FleetTalk service combines regional radio and nationwide cellular PTT into one managed solution with a single bill and a single point of contact for support.
