Tait TP9500
The TP9500 is Tait's mid-range DMR portable with full DMR Tier 3 trunking, analog, and MPT1327 fallback in a single rugged unit. An Intrinsically Safe Division 1 variant makes it a strong fit for oil and gas, mining, and chemical facilities. Dual-microphone noise cancellation and a large color display round out a radio built for demanding commercial environments.
Overview
Organizations upgrading from analog or MPT1327 networks often face a transition window where both old and new infrastructure must coexist. Buying a radio that can only run DMR forces an abrupt cutover, which creates coverage gaps and operational risk during the migration.
The TP9500 covers VHF 136-174MHz, UHF 378-470MHz and 450-520MHz, and 700/800MHz 762-870MHz with power output of 5W VHF, 4W UHF, and 3W at 700/800MHz. It runs DMR Tier 3 Trunking, DMR Tier 2 Conventional, Analog Conventional, and MPT1327 Trunking, giving your fleet backward compatibility during migration. Up to 4,000 channel capacity, a large high-resolution color display, integrated GNSS plus Bluetooth iBeacon for indoor location, and WiFi OTAP are all included. The 3W speaker with dual-microphone active noise cancellation is engineered specifically for loud work environments.
The TP9500 exceeds MIL-STD-810G and carries IP65 and IP68 ratings for spray and immersion resistance. An Intrinsically Safe Division 1 variant (UL/CSA certified) is available for hazardous classified locations including oil refineries, chemical plants, and underground mining operations. The shock-absorbing corner design and water-shedding speaker grille add mechanical durability beyond the IP rating.
Key Features
Quad-Mode Protocol Support
Operates on DMR Tier 3 Trunking, DMR Tier 2 Conventional, Analog Conventional FM, and MPT1327 Trunking in a single radio. This quad-mode capability means you can deploy the TP9500 before your DMR infrastructure is fully built out and keep field crews communicating throughout the transition.
Intrinsically Safe Division 1 Variant
A UL/CSA-certified Intrinsically Safe Division 1 variant is available for classified hazardous locations including oil and gas, chemical, and mining sites. This allows facilities with strict ignition hazard requirements to deploy full-featured DMR without compromising safety compliance.
Dual-Mic Noise Cancellation
The 3W speaker paired with dual-microphone active noise cancellation processes and removes background noise before transmission and at the receive end. This makes voice communications intelligible in loud industrial environments such as plant floors, construction sites, and equipment bays.
Indoor and Outdoor Location
Combines integrated GNSS for outdoor GPS tracking with Bluetooth iBeacon detection for indoor location services. This dual-mode positioning gives supervisors and safety managers continuous visibility across facilities where GPS signals are unavailable, such as warehouses, mines, and multi-story buildings.
WiFi OTAP Fleet Management
Over-the-air programming via WiFi lets administrators update radio configurations, channel plans, and feature licenses without physically collecting each unit. For large commercial fleets, this reduces programming labor significantly and keeps radios in service rather than on a programming bench.
Man Down and Lone Worker
Man Down and Lone Worker safety modes are available via software, providing automated alerts to dispatch when an operator is incapacitated or fails to check in. The programmable emergency key gives a direct one-button escalation path for workers in high-risk solo environments.
